The Operation PRIDE STEM Summer Academy, sponsored by the Department of Defense Education Activity, has been developed by the College of William & Mary’s STEM Education Alliance and the Operation PRIDE team. The academy hosts 25 middle school students from both Larkspur Middle School and Brandon Middle School. Students will participate in an action-packed camp week while exploring career opportunities in STEM-related fields.
This four-day summer event is designed to develop student team work and problem solving skills in the process of using mathematics and science to solve challenges. In addition to other activities, student teams will compete in the Tower Build Challenge, the Water Rocket Challenge, the M&M Statistics Challenge and the Electronics Challenge. Through these hands-on activities, students will explore physics, chemistry, biology, engineering, and mathematics in an engaging, high-energy environment.
