The STEM Education Alliance supports best practices in STEM instruction. Instruction in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics should be hands-on and content should be related to the real world.
Through teacher training and Scientist & Engineer training, the STEM Education Alliance has developed guidance on effective STEM instruction by creating tips on what we call the 5 Strands of Effective STEM Instruction. These instructional strategies are used in combination throughout the Virginia Demonstration Project's R2 Curriculum Modules.
The following pages have been created to provide resources for teachers, project managers, and scientists & engineers on implementing effective STEM programs:
- Summer Academies: Information on the Summer Academy program offered including a video
- Robotics Resources: Informational resources on implementing robotics in the classroom
- Informal Science Education Resources: Informational resources on research and best practices in informal science education (ISE), including major ISE and after-school organizations
- STEM Career Resources: Information on various STEM career possibilities including access to the Explore magazine and videos designed for students
- STEM Career Kits: This kit will be your most helpful tool in assisting students in identifying a career path that best fits their interests.
